Creating An Application

  1. Click “My Apps” You’ll see “Create New App”, “Templates”, and “My Apps” if this is your first time using Robot Fruit, continue to step 2.
  2. Click “Create New”
  3. Fill out the fields for “App Title”, “Domain Name”, Business Phone”, and “Business Email”
  4. Choose a template. Leave this field “blank”, or alternately, view our pre-made templates.

Customizing Your Application

- Our Drop in Modules are a quick way to customize exactly which features (widgets) you would like to use.

- They are broken down into four categories.

  1. Company widgets describes your business
  2. Call to Action widgets are designed to bring in more clients
  3. Social Media widgets are for online, social interaction with your clients
  4. Resources widgets give your customers practical information on your products and services

To Install Any Widget

  1. Click and drag the widget’s icon from the widgets page
  2. To edit the widget, double-click the widget icon in either the preview phone or Drop In Module
  3. To remove a widget, click the “x” next to the widget in the preview phone
  4. To see how your application looks on several devices, use the “select device” option

Individual Widget Descriptions

Photos

The Photo widget adds pictures to your app

  1. Create an album, title the album in the “Enter Album Name” field
  2. To upload an image click the “browse” button, find and highlight the desired picture and click “open”
  3. Click “save” to complete the upload
  4. Repeat for any new pictures

Protips: Update your photos often! New content will bring new users, and keep existing ones engaged.

Locations

The Locations widget allows you to add geographic locations to your app that customers can “check-in” through the mobile app and collect rewards

  1. Create a new category (e.g. store, restaurant, bar, special event)
  2. Click the “Add” button
  3. Fill in the name of the establishment
  4. To upload an image click the “browse” button, find and highlight the desired picture and click “open”
  5. Click “Save”
  6. Fill in the Location’s information
  7. Click “Save”

About

The About widget allows your customers easy access to basic contact information

  1. Fill in the various fields
  2. To upload an image click the “browse” button, find and highlight the desired picture and click “open”

Protips: The more information you give out, the easier it will be for your clients to interact with you.

People

The People Widget showcases your staff members.

  1. Fill in the blank fields, adding information about your staff members such as name, title, and perhaps a short bio

Protips: Knowing names and faces helps create a friendly atmosphere that customers tend to gravitate towards. Let your customers know about new staff members, such as management staff, bartenders, etc.

Products

The Products widget allows your customers to see items for sale broken down into categories.

  1. Choose categories
  2. To enter a new product, fill in the name followed by the product description.To upload an image click the “browse” button, find and highlight the desired picture and click “open”

Protips: Whenever you update your products, make sure to send a tweet, post to your facebook page, and send a push notification. Integration is key!

Coupons

The Coupons widget allows you to add customized coupons for your customers to redeem

  1. To create a new coupon, enter the name of the coupon
  2. In the fields provided, set the date and time the promotion is active, or if it is recurring
  3. Availability sets a limit to how many people can redeem a specific coupon
  4. Set a push notification by checking the box next to notification and set how many hours before the coupon becoming available you want the notification be set.

Protips: Always check the prices and expirations dates of your coupons! Remember to set your push notifications to remind your customers of coupons.

Promotions

The Promotions widget allows you to add customized promotions for you customers

  1. To create a new promotion, enter the name of the promotion
  2. In the fields provided, set the date and time the promotion is active, if the promotion is recurring, check the box next to the day or days you’d like the promotion to be active

Protips: Set push notifications to remind your customers of upcoming events. Set push notifications a week before the event, the day of the event, and during the event! Please see the video tutorial

Events

Create and promote special events for holidays, or special promotions

  1. To create a new event enter the name of the event, and the date and time th event will begin
  2. Set a location for the event by selecting a previously entered place from the drop-down menu
  3. Use the text box next description to let your customers know any details

Protips: Set push notifications to remind your customers of upcoming events. Set push notifications a week before the event, the day of the event, and during the event! Please see the video tutorial for events for detailed advice on using push notifications to promote!

Rewards


Helps incentivize customers to share deals and promote the app to receive redeemable rewards

  1. To create a new reward enter the name of the reward in the blank field.
  2. Determine the amount of points the reward will cost the customer
  3. To upload an image of your reward click the “browse” button, find and highlight the desired picture and click “open”

Protips: We suggest creating a reward for users when they sign up for your app. Remember, you can more effectively manage your rewards through R-Cubed Dashboard!

Wall

Provides a platform for customers to write reviews and comments about your business

  1. To post to your wall, enter information into the field labeled status and save

Protips: Use the profile widget before using the wall widget.

OpenTable

OpenTable allows your customers to reserve a table directly from their phone

-To use OpenTable, you must register your business at www.opentable.com

Social Media


Linking social media to your app allows a new level of interaction with your customers, as well as giving your business exposure past your current customers.

Twitter allows you to post 140 character “tweets” to your followers

- sign up at www.twitter.com

Facebook allows you to create a fan page for your business

-sign up at www.facebook.com

Youtube allows you to post single videos, or an entire video library with an RSS feed

-sign up at www.youtube.com

Vimeo allows you to post single videos, or an entire video library with an RSS feed

-sign up at www.vimeo.com

Flickr adds picture content to your application.

-sign up at www.flickr.com

Instagram adds picture content to your application

-sign up at www.instagram.com

Protips: Monitor your social media sites regularly throughout the day. Reply to your Twitter @ mentions, take note who is liking your facebook posts. Twitter is becoming the go-to portal for customer service interactions.

 

Weblinks

With the Weblinks widget you can direct customers to outside websites such as your main website, a partner site, or a webpage with content that cannot be transferred to your application

PDF

The PDF widget allows you to transfer a PDF document from your computer to your application so customers can view it in a mobile-friendly version.

  1. To upload a PDF to your application, click the “browse” button which will open a navigation window
  2. Find and highlight the PDF you would like to upload, click “open”
  3. Click “save” to complete the upload

Menu

The Menu widget allows you to upload a menu in PDF format

  1. To upload a PDF to your application, click the “browse” button which will open a navigation window
  2. Find and highlight the PDF you would like to upload, click “open”
  3. Click “save” to complete the upload

Specials

The Specials widget allows you to create daily or weekly specials

WordPress

The WordPress widget keeps new content on your application without having to edit using the CMS

  1. To add a WordPress URL, enter the URL from your site and click the “save” button

Drupal

The Drupal widget keeps new content on your application without having to edit using the CMS

  1. To add a Drupal URL, enter the URL from your site and click the “save” button

RSS

The RSS widget keeps new content on your application without having to edit using the CMS

  1. To add an RSS feed, enter the URL in the blank field and click the “import” button
  2. You can add as many feeds as you like

Podcasts

The Podcasts widget allows you to add a podcast to your application.

  1. To add a new feed, enter the podcast URL in the blank field and click the import button

Visuals

You can change your app’s background, logo, etc

  1. Click “Visuals”
  2. Upload an image by clicking the “browse button”
  3. Find and highlight the desired image, and click “Open”
  4. Select a main text box color by clicking the color box (this is black by default)
  5. A box will appear with a color palette and color input
  6. Using the rainbow bar in the middle, drag the arrows around to the desired colors
  7. Use the left box to adjust the shade
  8. When you are satisfied with the results, click “next”

Protips: Don’t use a small image for any of the larger upload spaces. The image will look grainy.

Icons

You can upload custom icons

  1. Click icons button next to the visuals button
  2. Upload an image by clicking the “browse button”
  3. Find and highlight the desired image, and click “Open”

Protips: Don’t have any custom icons? We can make them for you!

Layout

The layout screen allows you to choose how your icons are arranged

  1. To choose a layout click the bubble beneath the desired one
  2. When you are satisfied with your decision, click “next”

Protips: Remember, you can see what your app will look like by choosing the “preview” option below “device” selection.

Audio

The Audio widget allows you to upload an MP3 file for users to access through the app

  1. To add an audio file, first create a new Album, and enter the category title in the blank field
  2. click “Add Audio”
  3. Choose the album you want the file to be uploaded into
  4. Fill in the name of the audio track in the appropriate field
  5. Click the “browse” button to find, and then highlight, the desired MP3
  6. Click the “open” button
  7. Click save
